Refugee Open Ware and Odyssea are active in the Greek islands. Focused on cleaning the Greek coast while helping local communities and refugees arriving from across the sea. Odyssea transforms used lifejackets and boats into valuable design products, such as bags and wallets, that are sold across the world. The project offers work to refugees and collaborates with the local community to help clean and maintain the sea coast.
In the Greek islands of Lesvos and Chios, there are an estimated 1,200 tons of non-recyclable waste material from life vests and inflatable boats used by refugees crossing the Mediterranean. Odyssea is raising funds to build a co-working design space in Athens for waste up-cycling and to raise environmental awareness, as well as to purchase a mobile healthcare unit and support Odyssea’s “social kitchen” which currently feeds 2,000 people every week.

The 90 liter Hippo Water Roller enables man, women, children and the elderly in South Africa to collect 5 times more water than they normally do and roll it along the ground to where it’s needed. It’s a creative and effective solution that avoids the need to carry many single small buckets on their heads for several kilometres.

The invention is helping smallholder and informal communities improve access to water, food security, and income generation. The Hippo Water Roller is a proven way to fulfill social responsibility objectives.

Hippo Roller was created by two South Africans, Mr. Pettie Petzer and Johan Jonker. Both grew up on farms and have seen the effect of water crisis on rural communities where access to water is a daily struggle for millions of people. Even former president Nelson Mandela gave the project his personal endorsement, appealing to the private and corporate sectors, as well as donors, to actively support it.

Refugee Open Ware & 3Dmena · Al Bader Healing Center supports women and children who are victims of the Syrian War. Based in Jordan, they produce 3D printed artificial limbs for amputees, as well as helping with physical and psychological rehabilitation.
3DMENA are raising funds for a social innovation lab at the center. With equipment such as 3D scanners and printers, the lab will be a space for treating trauma through interactive, and creative expression. 3DMENA also hopes to strengthen children’s self-reliance by enabling them to develop solutions for problems they face in their everyday life. The lab will provide informal STEAM (Story, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) education for refugee children who are left out of the formal schooling system – a challenge faced by an estimated 80,000 Syrian children in Jordan.

In 2016 Manos Unidas started a three year campaign toward fighting hunger. They are working to reduce hunger in the world, and to reinforce the right to adequate food for the poorest and most vulnerable people on the planet. The focus of their efforts is on those suffering from hunger and to combat its causes. Active mainly in America, Asia, Africa, and Oceania, with the aim of ending a problem that affects hundreds of millions of people worldwide.

After more than half a century helping to improve the world through various campaigns, Manos Unidas continues to work to end “all hunger in the world”, by implementing programs, plans and comprehensive development projects that are carried out in the world’s neediest countries.

FAADA works toward building a world in equilibrium, where animal rights are respected and ensured so that they can live a decent life.

FAADA actively promotes and defends animal rights in social, legal, and educational spheres. To achieve this, FAADA faces many challenges. Among FAADA’s campaigns its missions are to promote living in a world without animals in captivity, to end shows that use animals in any way, to end exotic animals trading, to end animal abandonment, to offer alternatives to economic sectors that directly or indirectly cause animal abuse, to educate children how to respect animals, to include respect for animals in school curriculum, and to ensure that animal rights are present in political and social debates.
